Socket Presentation

25 July 2024

Nonfrasa & Desa presents ‘Socket’, a one evening presentation of new sculptures by artists Faisal Habibi and Tim Woodward. Working with materials including steel, plastic, stone and an array of discarded and found objects, the artists explore a shared interest in the inadvertent vessel, responding to the prompt of a sculptural vacuum. As a one night presentation, ‘Socket’ exists as a scattered ensemble of false bowls, corrupted casks and hollow promises.

Faisal Habibi is represented by ROH Projects, Jakarta.
Tim Woodward is represented by Darren Knight Gallery, Sydney and Animal House Fine Arts, Melbourne.

At the heart of this collaborative project lies the connection between Faisal and Tim. The artistry composed through the playful deconstruction of regular objects, challenging to reconsider their relationship with the manufactured world. By infusing an empirical approach to beauty, it prompts to engage with the tactile and sensory nuances that often go overlooked in our consumer-driven society. In contrasting the nuanced creations exude a sense of weight and gravity, defying conventional expectations and imbuing the space with an air of mystery. The angular angles of the installations, seemingly adrift on the gallery space, evoke a palpable sense of unease and intrigue. Through the innovative interplay of found object material and unforeseeable approach, The sculptures challenge to confront the boundless possibilities that stem from the mundane, encouraging a deeper exploration of the intricacies of our perceptions and discomposure.
