In Balance and Harmony, Kadek Armika reimagines the Balinese kite—not as a mere object of leisure, but as a vessel of memory, movement, and meaning. Drawing upon the historical and technical dimensions of traditional kite-making, Armika offers a deeply layered exploration of cultural identity, aerodynamics, and sculptural form. His works evoke the tension between groundedness and ascension, tradition and experimentation— At once poetic and precise, the exhibition positions the sky as both canvas and concept, a space where the terrestrial and celestial converge. By situating indigenous knowledge systems within the discourse of contemporary art, Armika constructs a bridge between worlds—between the vernacular and the global, between myth and motion. Echoing the kinetic investigations of Duchamp, Arp on Alexander Calder works, Armika’s kites are not static relics of cultural preservation but dynamic instruments of transformation—where becomes a conduit for critical reflection.
