In this thought-provoking installation by Pande Wardina, audiences are invited to delve into the intricate realm of personal growth and self-awareness, centered on the essential question: “Why?” Wardina’s artwork skillfully navigates the diverse perceptions and expectations that individuals encounter as they journey through life, ultimately reaching a point where they must confront the expectations of others.
Drawing upon his personal experiences of compromise and discovery during his formative years, Wardina poses the sardonic question: Why is uncertainty the most absolute encounter we face as social beings? To address this, he presents the human body and consciousness as a temple of self-discovery and a space filled with contradictions.
Through this perspective, the artist explores the complex pathways that guide us to our inner selves, as well as the external influences that shape our present and future identities. Wardina’s work demonstrates the impact of commentary, low self-esteem, and opinions as a double-edged sword, directing us along our path based on our own arbitrary decisions.
In this installation, Wardina exhibits the remnants of our collective memories, carefully arranged to create a depiction of self-consciousness.
