RUINS

24 June 2023

Nonfrasa Gallery and Desa Residency are excited to announce their upcoming group exhibition, “RUINS,” set to open on June 24th, 2023 at Nonfrasa Gallery in Ubud. This thought-provoking exhibition delves into the intricate art and architecture of ancient cultures, exploring their preservation and continued influence on artistic evolution, heritage conservation, and the manifestation of the artists.

“RUINS” offers a unique perspective on the interconnectedness of art, history, and spirituality, inviting visitors to confront their inherent biases and preconceived notions about art. This immersive experience encourages a deeper exploration of the artists’ works, unearthing the depth of artistic heritage hidden within the “RUINS.”

The exhibition draws an analogy between the interpretation of the “RUINS” and the concept of bilingualism in the context of multilingual education. This analogy highlights the importance of maintaining cultural heritage while incorporating new artistic languages and influences, fostering a greater understanding of how these elements influence and shape one another.

As visitors immerse themselves in the artistic journey that “RUINS” presents, they are encouraged to recognize the subtle connections between the various artworks, contemplating the underlying themes that bind them together. This introspection allows for a greater appreciation of the interwoven nature of art, history, and spirituality.
